Todays game started with Rathangan playing some high pressing football, which led to many attacks. The first 20 minutes were pretty even with few chances from both sides. There was some good early performances from Pat Martin keeping it tight at the back and Ryan Webb with some fantastic runs up the line. Eric Ivers also put in a great performance in the first half with some great runs and a nice through ball that put Kyle Bracken in front of net, as expected Kyle slotted it bottom corner to give Rathangan the lead. Rathangan were never scared to take chances because they knew they had a solid keeper in D.J Earley. Blessington equalised with a goal of their own just as the half came to a close. Blessington came out looking stronger in the second half forcing many important saves from D.J and an amazing off the line clearance by Ryan Webb. Changes in the second half saw Tommy Dempsey being replaced by Jamie Kearns who held the midfield well, this allowed Donal Kenny to run at the blessington back four with ease. Blessimgton resorted to playing long high balls as they knew they couldn’t pass it through the rathangan defense. Pat Martin won many of the high balls that came through .A great tackling display was put on by Jamie Kearns who slide tackled four men in a row without conceding a free. Just as the game looked like it was heading to extra time great work from the Rathangan defense allowed Donal, Sodiq and Eric to break free leading to a last minute goal by Eric Ivers.

Rathangan are now through to the midlands league final.
