Junk Kouture finalist

A winning creation 'The Lament of the Swans'.
> At Ardscoil Rath Iomaghain the sense of excitement is exhilerating with the thrilling news, that Chloe Aitkins will compete in this years regional finals of Junk Kouture. As a sixth year student currently studying for her Leaving Certificate exams in June we are all in awe of the time and effort she dedicated to her marvellous creation 'Lament of the Swans'. Securing a place in the Regional Finals of the 'Junk Kouture Recycled Fashion competion' is an amazing achievement. The finals will be held in the Helix on the 7th of March and everyone in Ardscoil Rath Iomghain would like to wish Chloe the very best of luck. Fantastic fundraising efforts are underway to ensure a bus full of supporters will accompany both Chloe and Ms. Jordan on the day.
> Chloe’s impressive creation was made from over 3,500 hand crafted origami swans, a cloak of feathers which was sourced from local farms and a corset made from plastic sacking material collected at a building site. This work of art required great skill and talent. Coupled with passion and the will to succeed it is no surprise that Chole has reached the finals. Everyone in school has a genuine appreciation of the workmaship that went into this creation. The sense of pride around the school is almost tangible. The white swan-like gown symbolises ‘Marriage’ and represents concern for the earth and how we are destroying it.
> The competition is about encouraging students to recycle and reuse waste materials in a creative and innovative way. Chloe certainly embraced this directive by visiting localbusinesses and also searching through the waste bins in our school foraging for the materials required to fabricate her beautiful creation.
> Well done Chloe. We are so impressed and can't wait to cheer you on to the Nationals!
