The family and friends of the late Sarah Dunphy have decided to give a gift of €500 to one Leaving Cert student. Despite adversity and the many obstacles put in her way, Sarah was a strong believer in the value of education and achieved an excellent Leaving Cert and also graduated from third level. This will be an annual award in Sarah’s memory.
The award will be given to a student who has overcome difficulties or personal circumstances in order to achieve well in school with the view to continue in education after their Leaving Cert.
Students can nominate themselves or be nominated by a fellow student, a teacher or a community member. The nomination must include why the student is a suitable candidate for the gift and they can be handed to Ms Doyle or Mr Murphy in a sealed envelope before Friday 1st May. If a student prefers to verbally give a nomination for a fellow student they can do so with Ms Doyle or Mr Murphy who will take notes.
The winner will be decided by Sarah’s family and friends and announced at the Awards Day and the money will be given to the student on Sarah’s birthday , October 8th each year.
