Hyland and Mulpeter do the damage as a good team performance advance Ardscoil Rath Iomghain to Senior Boys South Leinster final

Ardscoil Rath Iomghain 5-17     Tullow Community School 3-12

In a high scoring game played on Sunday morning Rathangan withstood a valiant comeback in the 2nd half to eventually advance to the South Leinster final. Rathangan had the better start to the game with early points from Jimmy Hyland (0.2) Daniel Mulpeter and Stefan Lawlor before Tullow registered their first score. Rathangan were defending well and making the most of their possession with a further 2-3 from Hyland , a goal from Mulpeter with further points from Stefan Lawlor ,Conor O loughlin and Sean Glennon giving them a 3-10 to 0-2 lead coming up to half time. The Ardscoil Rath Iomghain management will not have been happy with the way they played either side of half time. Tullow finished the scoring of the half  with  1-1 leaving a half time score of 3-10  to 1-3.

If the game game looked over at half nobody told the Tullow team and they made a flying start to the 2nd half scoring 2-2 in the first seven minutes to leave six points between the sides. Ardscoil Rath Iomghain managed to steady with a a couple of well worked points for Hyland and Mulpeter . The teams were exchanging points with two more from Hyland before Mulpeter calmly finished to the net after a well worked move to effectively killed the game off. Hyland and substitute Shane O Brien added further points with wing back Sean Glennon scoring a fine goal to put a gloss on the score board . Over all it was an excellent result with some fine individual performances but the team will know that improvements will be needed before playing the final in the next fortnight.
