Cycle of life
In support of positive mental health in young people.
As you are aware we have a lot of students under pressure in our schoolsin Kildare and nationally at this time and we have had a number of tragedies in the county.
Kildare VEC are organising a relay cycle around the county on Thursday 2/5/13 to promote positive mental health and support our young people .The 9 schools in Kildare VEC will be selecting 20 students from each school to take part. We will only select 20 from each to have a suitable number on the road at any one time.
Fundraising will take place in each school and a cheque will be collected in each school on the day of the cycle.
Each school only cycle to the next school and then pass the baton on before returning to their own school.We will be cycling to the Curragh school and back approx 25 km
All participants should have an appropriate bike, a helmet and a high viz vest. All students should have a reasonable level of fitness as we will be on a deadline to get to the County office in Naas by 2.30.There will be 8 weeks to prepare and some staff will also be participating
There will be two routes as follows;
Route 1 Castledermott to Athy to Rathangan to The Curragh to Newbridge to the VEC Co Office,Naas
Route 2 Confey to Maynooth to Prosperous to Pipers Hill to VEC Co Office, Naas
A total cheque will be presented at VEC county offices to Kildare based charities on Positive mental health or suicide awareness.(An exact charity has not been chosen yet).
