We had a wonderful arts and culture week last week. Here are some details of what happened each day :
Friday - Irish Day TY Ceili and trad group concert accompanied by Ms Begley
Junk couture 1st years (Niamh Hurley and Jessica Habenicht) got to the Regional Final for the Junk Kouture competition and the T.Y students (Siobhan Hardt, Sarah Anderson, Emma Carroll) are in the All- Ireland Final on the 20th of Apr.
Tuesday - 6th Year music students lunchtime concert accompanied by Ms Begley
Wednesday - 1A1 vs 1A4 debate "computers should replace teachers" – 1a1
Guest speaker for TY/3rd/6th Year students - Rory Doyle drummer with The Walls and BellX1
Special effects make-up demonstration with Deirdre Fitzgerald, movie make-up artist
Lunchtime concert - Mr Flynn (flute/low whistle) & Mr O'Rourke (guitar & low whistle)
Thursday - LC Music students to NUIM Music Department and worked with Dr Gordon Delap (lecturer/composer) and Bryan Quigley (composer & performer), workshop on composition using computer music
Flashmob in the school canteen - students from all years dancing in the canteen - practises were after school on a Wednesday – with Breda Kelly Lynch
French play for 2nd and 3rd years based on a good luck charm
Friday - talk in the library for 5th year history students by the author and historian James Durney, author of The Titanic - Kildare connection- Vietnam: The Irish Experience” covered Irish citizens involvement in that war.
